WHAT IS CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based collaborative process  where the therapist and client work together to identify negative thoughts and behaviours that can be altered to bring about emotional change. CBT teaches the client to become their own therapist by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to treat the problem and reach their goals.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS CBT?

CBT has been proven to be effective in treating a number of different mental health conditions. It is the first-line talking therapy recommended by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NIHCE) for treating depression and anxiety disorders. It is the most effective psychological treatment for common mental health problems, with evidence suggesting that it is as or more effective than anti-depressant medication, with lower relapse rates at follow-up.
